Range Road

Architecture | Edition Office

A proposed new build on an elevated, two-hectare site overlooking the Blue Mountains, in the NSW Southern Highlands. The main residence is a simple rectalinear plan with large pitched roof, orientated to take full advantage of the northern sun access and views. Guided by Passivaus principles, the design consists of 0.5-metre thick straw bale walls with compressed fibre cement cladding, and a generous proportion of glazing. The pitched roof overhangs the internal footprint of the residence providing shading to the glazing as well as creating covered outdoor terraces. Jordan was involved in the design development, including close contractor engagment and careful value management to meet a tight project budget.
